SHV / FSVL aviation map; Sticky Lines’ SHV registration number; retro meet-up at the Pinzgau Flight School; 5,000 km paragliding across America
The Swiss Hang Gliding Association has recently started offering, much like Austro Control, an aviation map which clearly illustrates Switzerland’s airspaces. Clicking on the map provides detailed information on the airspaces and their altitude limits.
In Switzerland, everyone – including holiday flyers – must fly with an SHV registration number on their paraglider. According to the company, Sticky Lines offers a number that can be removed without leaving any residue, in accordance with SHV regulations. As no adhesive is used, the numbers can be removed and reattached as often as required.
On 19 September, a retro meet-up will take place at the Pinzgau Flight School. Classic aircraft from the early days of our sport will be on display, as well as ‘youngtimers’ from the 1990s and the 2000s.
Last year, David Henrichs and Marlon Jonat travelled from the southern United States to the Canadian border using a powered paraglider. Back then, the individual stages were posted on YouTube; this time, the full story is told in a single video. In terms of content, there’s nothing new on offer, but it’s still worth watching the adventures of the two of them again. I’m not sure where the 5,000 km flight distance mentioned in the title comes from. The video description only mentions 2,000 km, which seems more realistic to me.
