Paragliding photo of the partial solar eclipse; Why do I fly? | Paragliding | Celine Lorenz; I’ve been flying here for years, but I’ve never done this before; Breaking personal altitude records and trying to reach the stratosphere in a paraglider

On 11 August, there was a partial solar eclipse in Germany. Many pilots took advantage of the event to capture impressive paragliding videos or take photographs. Carlo Koller managed to take a particularly beautiful photograph. The crescent of the partially eclipsed sun complements the crescent of the paraglider perfectly.

In the following video, Celine Lorenz introduces herself, even though she is already a well-known figure in the paragliding scene. The video appears to be the first in a series in which she shares more about herself and our sport.

One thing I noticed when I was still living in the lowlands is that pilots who live in a particular flying area tend to fly only there. This can mean that you end up flying the same route over and over again, without perhaps ever exploring new paths. Joanna Di Grigoli is familiar with this problem. She lives in the well-known flying area of Annecy. In this video, she shows just how easy it can be to break out of a rut.

In his video, Romy Netiv shows what it feels like to fly at altitudes of over 5,000 metres, suspended only by a single piece of fabric. Even the mighty mountains of the French Alps look quite small in it.
